The Reading and Columbia Railroad was a small system, by most standards. Nevertheless, by connecting the town of Columbia, Pa., on the shore of the Susquehanna River, with Reading, PA, on the banks of the Schuylkill River, this little railroad enabled tremendous growth through the heart of Lancaster County.  This booklet explains how that growth took place, while presenting a brief look at the towns and villages it served.
