Description
The Reading and Columbia Railroad was a small line that ran through the heart of Lancaster County, PA. In spite of its size, it had a huge effect on the development of the towns it served. From 1863 until 1985, this small, but important, railroad contributed to the economy and the productivity of the area. The Vehicle for Growth seeks to examine this railroad, with a special interest in comparing the communities it served with those communities which lacked the benefits of a railroad. Included are many photographs of the stations along the line, as well as maps detailing the system.
