Two brothers came to America around 1730 looking for a new life. Peter Gehr was the first to arrive, followed shortly after by his brother Johannes. Both left their native Germany to come to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Though they remained close to each other, their lives took divergent paths. This book is first and foremost a genealogical record of the Gehr family. It includes a complete list of eleven generations, beginning with Felden Valentin Gehr and continuing to today. But it also includes numerous stories about the lives of these people.
The focus is on Lancaster County, where the two brothers first settled. Included are maps of the original land warrants, and an exhaustive list of Gehr Graves in Lancaster County.
