It was such a pleasure to lead a presentation yesterday at the Ephrata Cloister’s Winter History Class. My topic was The Vehicle For Growth: How the Train Transformed the Cocalico Valley. This was the first in a two-month series of classes covering a wide range of topics. Go to http://www.ephratacloister.org for a complete listing of topics and to register for future classes. We had a great turnout, both in person and online. My talk was based on my book of the same title. You can purchase a copy of the book The Vehicle For Growth in the PeaceAbility Press Store (click “SHOP” above). Two versions are available: the economical e-Book or the paperback version. I was honored to be invited to speak to the Denver-Ephrata Chapter of the Rotary International on January 11, 2024. I was there representing the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley. My topic was The Clockmakers of the Cocalico Valley, a look at the 20 clockmakers who made excellent tall case clocks in our area from 1750-1850. It was a delightful time spent getting to know new friends and reacquainting with many familiar faces.
