Description

Alexander Mack and Conrad Beissel were both men of vision and spiritual devotion. In 1708 Mack led a small group of believers into a new theological expression that became known as “Brethren”. Beissel, once a follower of Mack’s teachings, soon dissented and formed his own following in the Pennsylvania wilderness by creating a new community of believers known as Ephrata. The resulting tensions between the two caused much pain, but also helped to clarify and define both groups. The Ephrata Effect seeks to compare the teachings and interpretations of these two Christian leaders by revealing what they shared in common while identifying their differences.  Please Note this is the e-Book version
